PVC shrink film, or polyvinyl chloride shrink film, is a popular, cost-effective packaging material known for its clarity and low-temperature shrinkage. Due to environmental and health concerns, it has been increasingly replaced by alternatives like polyolefin (POF) and polyethylene (PE) films, but it is still used for various non-food products.
General specifications
PVC shrink film is typically a single-direction (uniaxial) film, meaning it shrinks horizontally or vertically, though biaxial films that shrink in both directions are also available.
Material properties:
Clarity and gloss: Excellent.
Printability: Excellent and accepts printing without surface treatment.
Durability: Good resistance to tearing, moisture, and oil. It is, however, sensitive to temperature extremes and can become brittle in the cold or wrinkle in high heat.
Cost-effectiveness: Generally more affordable than polyolefin films.
